Elliot Erwitt – Icons

Elliot Erwitt – Icons

With over 80 renowned images, this exhibition narrates the universe of one of the most important masters of contemporary photography. He who transformed everyday life into visual poetry, capable of making us smile, reflect, and be moved.

With an unmistakable style – irreverent, poetic, deeply human – Erwitt has managed to capture the lightheartedness of the joy of living, becoming the most ironic and touching perspective of human comedy.

From June 28th to September 21st, 2025, Palazzo Bonaparte welcomes the most ironic and captivating perspective of 20th-century photography: ELLIOTT ERWITT.

An exhibition that is much more than an exhibition. It is an invitation to observe the world with lightheartedness, empathy, and astonishment.

A must-see event that, through more than 80 iconic photos, narrates the long and brilliant career of an artist who captured the soul of the 20th century, transforming ordinary moments into unforgettable images, with a deeply human but always surprising perspective.

Icons of an era exhibited in Rome. A way of looking at the world in a blithe and intelligent manner. Icons” because each of Erwitt’s photos has become a symbol of his poetics and of our own collective memory.

Erwitt is not only a photographer. He is the epic poet of human comedy, the infallible witness to life’s small and great absurdities, who can narrate subtle poetry and timeless grace with a captivating irony. His photos – renowned, unforgettable, often striking – succeeded in being carefree and profound, intimate and universal, all at the same time. They are images that make you smile, reflect, and be moved.

The Elliott Erwitt. Icons exhibition, curated by Biba Giacchetti – one of the most knowledgeable international experts on Erwitt – along with the technical assistance of Gabriele Accornero, is produced and organized by Arthemisia, in collaboration with Orion57 and Bridgeconsultingpro.

The Fondazione Terzo Pilastro - Internazionale is the main sponsor for the exhibition, along with Fondazione Cultura e Arte, and also Poema, with Ricola as special partner, Frecciarossa Treno Ufficiale as mobility partner, and Ferrari Trento as technical sponsor.
