?Sole, non soli?: l?arte regala un nuovo volto all?Ospedale Civico di Palermo

Sole, non soli: Art renews the Civic Hospital in Palermo

On November 11th, at 10:30 am, in the presence of the Director General of the ARNAS Civic Hospital in Palermo, Dr. Roberto Colletti, and also Administrative Director Dr. Francesco Paolo Tronca, Dr. Giovanna Evangelista of the Department of Tomotherapy, artist Marco Nereo Rotelli, and curator Elena Lombardi, the work by Marco Nereo Rotelli, Sole, non soli, with poetry excerpt by Mario Luzi, was presented within the framework of the Arte come Rinascita (Art as Rebirth) project. This project is part of the artistic renovation, and relevant improvement of the reception services area, of the Tomotherapy Pavilion at the Civic Hospital.
This is the second stage of a project that started in 2018 in the G. Di Cristina Children’s Hospital entitled La Rinascita dei Paladini (The Rebirth of the Paladins), created through the alliance between the Fondazione Terzo Pilastro - Internazionale and the ARNAS Civic Hospital.
In this case, as well, the project was executed through the contribution of the Fondazione Terzo Pilastro - Internazionale, chaired by Prof. Emmanuele F. M. Emanuele: “The strength of beauty and light constitute an improvement of the services dedicated to those who suffer, with the concrete support of professionals dedicated to the reception services for patients of the Tomotherapy Pavilion.”

The Sole, non soli installation goes beyond aesthetics. It is more than an artistic execution. It aims at transforming remoteness into closeness.

A metallic structure was mounted on the walls of the Tomotherapy Pavilion, superimposed with a modular aluminum wall where the artist created a cosmos of rays on which he copied, in his signature style, a verse by Mario Luzi contributed by the Mario Luzi La Barca Study Center in Pienza.

Curator Elena Lombardi commented: “The artist, Marco Nereo Rotelli, has always conveyed a strongly poetic feeling with his works. Now he does so through images of the sun in which rebirth is a vast theme, with an attention given to the fundamental elements of beauty using an expressive force that places the image at the foundation of his art, in relation to the context where his works are installed.”
