The Foundation supported the work of a young researcher, Tiffany Filocamo, by contributing to the publication of a book entitled ‘Le vie del Corallo nel Mediterraneo medioevale (The coral roads in the Mediterranean during the middle ages)’. The book enables readers to explore, imaginarily, the ancient navigation courses used by coral merchants between the Mediterranean coast and inland Europe.
The author explains how, regardless of Arab invasions, trading between nations in the Mediterranean region was never entirely discontinued, thus expressing the concept of Mediterranean unity.
The book was published in 2010 by Edizioni Scientifiche Italiane (ESI) and is the first of a minor series named “Mediterranean Anthology”, edited by the Foundation.
