Art and Culture in the twentieth Century Mediterranean

leaf-arte-e-cultura_1In 2006 the Fondazione Roma published the magnificent volume “Arte e Cultura del Mediterraneo nel XX secolo (Art and Culture in the twentieth Century Mediterranean)”in which contemporary art coming from the Mare Nostrum (the Roman name for the Mediterranean Sea) is shown as a meeting point between cultures and a means of uniting nations, directing them to live together without prejudice. By introducing the contemporary art (paintings, sculptures and architecture) of thirteen countries, from Italy to Egypt, Lebanon to Ukraine, the Vatican to Turkey, the book composes the basic theme of a Mediterranean civilization that has the power to unite people and thus bring peace.
