Eternal masters’ art returns to Palazzo Doebbing in Sutri.  Having captivated eleven thousand visitors in the space of a few months during the first exhibition season with works by Pellizza da Volpedo, whose Idillio Verde inspired the creation of the Museo di Palazzo Doebbing, Artemisia Gentileschi, Wilhelm Von Gloeden and masterpieces of religious art from Tuscia, and hosted Members of Parliament, journalists, philosophers, ambassadors, ministers such as Marco Busati, Minister of Education who came to witness the Italian excellences in the ‘Festival d’autunno’ conferences.  The new exhibition season at Palazzo Doebbing opened at 4 p.m. on the 25th of April 2019 with the exhibition  ‘Dialoghi a Sutri’ and the Museo di Arte antica e di Arte sacra of Sutri, which showcases masterpieces from Sutri belonging to the Diocese of Civita Castellana and the Sutri treasures with the Ephebe that testifies the centuries old identity of Sutri, which is now capable of becoming the Italian Capital of Art.

Sutri is at the centre of the news due to the Mayor Vittorio Sgarbi’s vision of a new Renaissance and is shining again with eleven works by great masters of art:  Titan, Scipione Pulzone, Henri Rousseau, Antonio Ligabue, Fausto Pirandello, Ottone Rosai, Francis Bacon, Renato Guttuso, Ernesto Lamagna, Luca Crocicchi and Carlos Solito.

The new exhibition season at Palazzo Doebbing and the city of Sutri, may count on the valued contributions of the of important institutional supporters, by virtue of Vittorio Sgarbi’s authoritative cultural proposals, such as Fondazione  Cultura e Arte, an instrumentality of Fondazione Terzo Pilastro – Internazionale  chaired by  Professor Emmanuele F. M. Emanuele, a leading patron of the historical opening of the Museo di Palazzo Doebbing last September who is sensitive to the growth of Sutri and its glories as a source of identity and human wealth, and is held under the  the patronage of the Prime Minister’s Office and the ministries of the Interior, Economy and Finance, Education, University and Research, Labour, Agricultural Food, Forestry and Tourism Policies, Family Policies, Justice, Environment, Cultural Heritage and Activities as well as the Regione Lazio and the Provincia di Viterbo.

Professor Emanuele, who is an honorary citizen of Sutri, affirmed: “ I am delighted to open the magnificent halls of Palazzo Doebbing again, just a few months after it was christened the city’s Museum, formally opening the new exhibition season that seems to be as remarkable as last autumn’s.  Vittorio Sgarbi accomplished the project to offer visitors eleven concurrent exhibitions that couple religious art with secular art and classical masters with modern artists.  This cultural and artistic offer, dare I say, stands comparison with large European cities and fulfils the promise that the Mayor and I made last September: to start an economic and humanistic renaissance of Tuscia from this wonderful place.”
