Education, Training and Research

Master’s degree course in Globalisation, Governance and International Understanding, promoted and supported by Fondazione Terzo Pilastro in association with the Link Campus University and the Lomonosov Moskow State University, includes exchange between Italian and Russian students for the  purpose of providing Italian and foreign students with the necessary tools and skills to work as decision makers in various sectors from business to finance, politics and communications.

CHINA

COMPLETED

Education, Training and Research

‘Internship in China’ project: accomplished by Fondazione Terzo Pilastro in association with the Four Stars employment agency and internship promoter: included six full scholarships for graduates or graduands aged between 22 and 29 years resident in Central and Southern Italy (even if domiciled in the North), with a good command of the English language to attend a six months Internship Master’s Program in Shanghai.

The international symposium on the evolution of China’s role in the Mediterranean region ‘ChinaMed Syposium’: promoted and supported by Fondazione Terzo Pilastro in association with the ChinaMed project held in the Casa dei Cavalieri di Rodi in Rome.

Education, Training and Research

IULM: Master’s degree course in Oriental Languages and Cultures: promoted and supported by Fondazione Terzo Pilastro in association with the IULM University, aims to train professionals with the appropriate technical and language skills to work in the Arab and Islamic world and in China and language mediators capable of working as translators or linguists in the most various fields (ranging from trade to international diplomacy, scientific research and import export).

The Foundation has placed twenty scholarships at the disposal of students (fifteen of which fully cover tuition fees and five partially cover said fees).

SYRIA

COMPLETED

Social

Project in Jaramana (Damascus): supported by the Foundation in association with the non-profit Istituto per la Cooperazione Universitaria (ICU), to create a football field for the local community and Iraqi refugees in order to encourage integration between the different cultures.

Open Hospitals Project: Fondazione Terzo Pilastro supported the AVSI association     to accomplish a project created in close association with the Apostolic Nunciature of the Holy See in Damascus that aimed to develop three non-profit hospitals; two in Damascus and one in Aleppo.  The contribution of Fondazione Terzo Pilastro aimed in particular to provide cutting edge equipment to the two hospitals in Damascus, managed by two religious organisations (one Italian and the other French).

Culture

Mar Musa al-Habashi Monastery Restoration project (desert North-East of Damascus): the Foundation contributed to the building of new wing of the Monastery in cooperation with the Italian non-profit association, Khalil Allah-the friend of God, which fosters harmony between the Christians and Muslims in the Mediterranean region.

Social

Project to reconstruct a school with a Catholic church in Aleppo: which should be accomplished by Fondazione Terzo Pilastro in association with the Aga-Khan Trust for Culture, and would represent the most important international project of historical value in the region.

Culture

Involvement in the Restoration of the Cathedral of Saint Augustine of Hippo in Annaba: in response to the appeal of the Order of Saint Augustine in Algiers, the Foundation joined an international group to protect an important monument of great cultural, spiritual and historical value, since Algerians consider the Cathedral as a meeting point between Islam and Christianity.

TUNISIA

Project to irrigate the semi-arid agricultural areas of Nabeul: the Foundation supported the project in collaboration with the non-profit Istituto per la Cooperazione Universitaria (ICU), to install pumping stations in order to turn the arid areas into cultivable land.

International Festival of Symphonic Music in El Jem:  totally supported by the Foundation the Orchestra Sinfonica di Roma participated in the most prestigious concert event on the southern shore of the Mediterranean Sea in association with the Istituto Italiano di Cultura – Tunis.

MOROCCO

Opened an office of Fondazione Terzo Pilastro – Internazionale in RABAT at ‘Agriconsulting Maroc S.A’.

 

FUTURE

Culture

Project for the cultural enhancement of Roman origins in Morocco: should be supported by Fondazione Terzo Pilastro at the proposal of the Herbert Simon Society to enhance the archaeological vestiges that bind peoples together and also for the purpose of creating archaeological and tourist paths.

 Project for the ‘Prevention and treatment of cervical cancer’, in collaboration with the non-profit Associazione Italia-Eritrea.

JORDAN

Social

Peace Project “One More Step Towards Peace” (Aqaba): supported by the Foundation and promoted by the non-profit Istituto per la Cooperazione Universitaria (ICU), the project included a series of meetings between Arab and Israeli students, and exchange projects involving the students of colleges, in Aqaba, Jordan and in Eilat, Israel.

 

CONTINUING

Project to “Improve Employment Opportunities in the Energy and Environment sectors in Jordan”: supported by the Foundation and promoted the non-profit Istituto per la Cooperazione Universitaria (ICU), the project has to date enabled the creation of a both a waste processing and recycling plant in the north of Jordan, near the Syrian border and the restoration of pumping stations in the same area, to ensure water supply in villages inhabited by Jordanians and Syrian refugees.

LUISS Mediterranean project: involved the establishment of an academic/scientific relationship with the University of Petra in Amman for a university training programme in association with the LUISS GUIDO Carli University and the exchange of Italian and Jordanian students.

LEBANON

Social 

Project for ‘Career Counselling and Job Placement for Vulnerable Youths in the Reception Centre in Rabieh’: supported by Fondazione Terzo Pilastro, in association with ARCS – Arco Culures Solidali, the project involved vocational training courses and psychological support for 100 youths between 17 and 25 years of age and also facilitated their reintegration in the social context.   

Projects in favour of the development of women’s employment in the rural areas of Lebanon: supported by Fondazione Terzo Pilastro, in association with Fundación Promoción Social de la Cultura, registered in Spain, for the development of Lebanese women’s microenterprises and subsequently to increase women’s employment in the country’s tourism sector.

Restoration of the statue of Dante Alighieri in Malta: promoted and accomplished by the Foundation, at the request of the Embassy of the Republic of Malta, in Floriana (Valetta).

Concert held by the Orchestra di Piazza Vittorio in support of the ‘Emanuele Cancer Research Foundation Malta: promoted and produced by the Foundation in the Manoel Theatre in Valetta.

The Emanuele Cancer Research Foundation Malta” (ECRFM): Construction of a leading cancer research centre in association with the University of Malta and the President of the Republic of Malta, in the university’s Biomedical Sciences building.

SPAIN

Social 

Project Caring for Me at Home”: supported by Fondazione Terzo Pilastro in association with Fundacion Porque Viven, the project involved Music Therapy and Physiotherapy activities at the homes of young children in need of palliative care (in Madrid and Zaragoza).

Extension of a reception centre in Teruel: the project was supported by Fondazione Terzo Pilastro in association with ATADI – Agrupacion Turolensede Asociaciones de Personas con Discapacidada Intelectual for the extension and adaptation of an outpatient centre in Alcañiz (Aragon) for people with intellectual disabilities.

Maides… Life is Now project:  Fondazione Terzo Pilastro supported Fundacion Mae de Deu dels Innocents i Desamparatsper to purchase a minibus to transport circa 70 patients with socio-psychological problems who attend mental health rehabilitation programmes (Valencia).

International Conference, Women in the New era of the Mediterranean: promoted and produced by the Foundation at the Ciudad de las Artes y las Ciencias (City of Arts and Sciences) Valencia.

Culture

Exhibition on surrealist artists held in Madrid: exhibition titled ‘Duchamp, Magritte, Dalì. Rivoluzionari del XX secolo (Duchamp, Magritte, Dalì: Revolutionary artists from the Twentieth Century)’, promoted and produced by Fondazione Terzo Pilastro at the Gaviria Palace in Madrid. 

Exhibition on Rubens held in Seville: exhibition titled ‘Rubens: Ercole e Deianira. Capolavori dalle collezioni italiane (Rubens: Hercules and Deianira, Masterpieces from Italian collections) promoted and produced by Fondazione Terzo Pilastro at the Lebrija Palace, Seville.

Exhibition on the Brueghel Dynasty held in Madrid: exhibition titled ‘Brueghel. Maravillas del arte flamenco (Brueghel. Wonders of Flemish Art)’ promoted and produced by Fondazione Terzo Pilastro at the Gaviria Palace in Madrid.

Project “Fundacion de las Comendadoras: Fondazione Terzo Pilastro supported the restoration an altar inside the Church in the Convent of las Comendadoras, in association with Fundacion de las Comendadoras de Santiago.

ALBANIA

Culture

Refurbishment of rooms in the premises of the Institute of Cultural Monuments (IMK) in Tirana: a project promoted and accomplished by the Foundation in association with the Cooperazione Italiana allo Sviluppo in Albania, in order to provide new workshops for the restoration and preservation of cultural heritage monuments in Albania. 

Exhibition on the Masters of Italian Art: exhibition titled “Capolavori dell’arte italiana del Novecento (Masterpieces of Italian art in the twentieth century)” promoted and produced by Fondazione Terzo the National Art Gallery in Tirana, with works from the Galleria d’Arte Moderna in Rome.
