WORLD DAY OF CULTURAL DIVERSITY FOR DIALOGUE AND DEVELOPMENT

The Foundation o and the Italian National Commission for UNESCO have chosen to dedicate this Day to ‘Cultural Diversity in the Mediterranean Basin’ subsequent to the violent conflicts sweeping across the North coast of Africa which have opened an intense debate on the Mediterranean’s geopolitical structure and the reception and supportive ability of the European Union and Italy.

The day was celebrated on the 28th May 2011 in the headquarters of the Società Siciliana per la Storia Patria and the Foundation in Palermo, under the aegis of the Provincia di Palermo, Comune di Palermo, Centro UNESCO of Valencia and the UNESCO Chair for religious pluralism and peace in the University of Bologna.
