Fondazione Terzo Pilastro Sails Against Tumours

Fondazione Terzo Pilastro – Internazionale will support the Cortina and Gargnano Yacht Clubs’ sports and social activities on the shores of Lake Garda.
The two main competitions will be the Cento People regatta to be held simultaneously with the Centomiglia boat race on Lake Garda for social, cultural, school and sailing therapy projects only and the 11th Children Win Cup, an event organised by the Gargnano Yacht Club together with the Associazione Bambino Emopatico (ABE) for current and former patients of the oncology-haematology ward at the Children’s hospital  ‘Ospedale dei Bambini Civile’ di Brescia.
Fondazione Terzo Pilastro – Internazionale, chaired by Professor Emmanuele F. M. Emanuele, is the natural evolution of Fondazione Terzo Pilastro – Italia e Mediterraneo, since it is the bearer of the two original strategic forms of involvement, albeit on a larger scale and with no territorial restraints: the Third Sector (non-profit organizations, or Third Pillar) and the urgent themes inspired by looking beyond the Mediterranean Region and observing current affairs in the emerging economies in the Middle and Far East, which in the future will play a leading role in our history.
The Foundation operates in the fields of Health, Welfare, Scientific Research, Education and Art and Culture and has never failed to support important sports projects of social value.
Indeed this is not the first alliance that Fondazione Terzo Pilastro – Internazionale     has entered with the sports world.  For example the wonderful project for integration that led to the creation of a football field in Jaramana, Syria, for the local residents and the Iraqi refugee community, as well as the long standing relationships with the Italian Paralympic Committee (CIP) and various sports federations and academies.
The next sports competitions organised by the Cortina and Gargnano Yacht clubs will be the Gentleman’s cup, the Helmsman’s Championship to be held on the 19th and 20th of May 2018 at Bogliaco di Gargnano. The 68th Centomiglia and Cento People (8 – 9 September), the Italian UFO 22 one design Championship (14 – 16 September) and the 11th Children Win Cup (22 – 23 September) will close the great sailing summer season in Lake Garda, Lombardy.
During 2018, Lab GVC (Le idee portate dal vento) will continue to cooperate with the University of Brescia (Department of Engineering and Mechanics) on the eco-compatible boat and, the Garda Uno Lab for school-work alternance with the Bazoli-Polo school in Desenzano, with the of the Italian Sailing Federation’s Sailing School project.
